2019-04-24: National Avian Bowl Manuals

PLease note that as of December 1, 2018, Clemson will no longer take checks for orders of the National Avian Bowl manuals.  Other forms of payment are still acceptable. 

2019-04-05: vND found in Arizona

Dr. Bradley is relaying the following announcement from USDA: “The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the presence of virulent Newcastle disease (VND) in a small flock of pet chickens in Coconino County, Arizona. This is the first case of VND in Arizona.”

2019-03-14: Northern California VND chicken death

Dr. Bradley wants everyone to be aware that CDFA staff has just released confirmation  “that one chicken taken to a veterinary office in Redwood City died of VND.”   Staff members also report that  “at this moment we are not aware of any other cases in Northern California but we are very actively investigating.” 

2019-01-18: Virulent Newcastle disease (vND) Outbreak

The Virulent Newcastle disease (vND) outbreak shows no signs of letting up.   We now have 3 commercial chicken ranches in Southern California that have been depopulated.  This week, our State Veterinarian – Dr. Annette Jones – released the following relative to upcoming poultry shows (and other live bird events):

2018-12-17: Virulent Newcastle disease (vND)

For the first time since 2003, we have confirmation of vND (virulent Newcastle Disease) in a commercial poultry operation.   The ranch is located in Riverside County.   While the number of backyard cases had been declining, just in the last week or so there had been an increase in one area of Riverside County.   The positive commercial facility is not far away.   The young birds at the commercial operation had been vaccinated three times and the virus was identified on routine surveillance.   Shortly after the virus was identified by the CAH
