2020 State Avian Bowl Qualifier

           Due to the continuing outbreak of virulent Newcastle Disease (vND) in southern California, poultry clubs in areas where there are commercial poultry operations, have wisely cancelled their shows.  This includes the Greater California Society of Poultry Fanciers’(GCSPF) Show in Fresno, the long-time partner of the Avian Bowl State Qualifier.

            Given that the February GCSPF Show is cancelled, the Qualifier has been moved for this year to a more convenient date for the officials.  As in 2019, the Qualifier will be held at the very comfortable Picadilly Inn Airport Hotel in Fresno.   However, the date has been moved to the last Saturday in April, the 25th.  We will be in the Merlot Banquet Room.

            Attention Club Leaders and parents: because we have yet to eradicate vND, the outlook is not good for many of our spring and early summer fairs, in terms of having live poultry shows.  Therefore, in addition to always being an excellent and fun way for your members to gain more knowledge about poultry, Avian Bowl may be the only competitive activity open to them for a good part of 2020.   I urge you to assemble your teams and start studying.
